Ken Harker WM5R
2001 Spring Sprint 144 MHz - WM5R (@ N5XU)

Another two meter sprint contest with fewer than twenty QSOs. I worked six members of the Central Texas DX & Contest Club (CTDXCC.) For comparison, I worked only two members of the Roadrunners Microwave Group (RMG,) the local VHF/UHF weak signal club. There was no enhanced propagation, as near as I could tell, and activity was so down that I didn't even work EL29, the grid in which Houston (the fourth largest city in the United States) is located - a grid I have never before failed to work in any contest involving two meters. Active stations in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area are becoming scarcer and scarcer, so I no longer expect to be able to work those grids.
