Previous: Long Delayed Echoes
- On 28 October, 2001, operating 15M at the CQ World Wide DX Contest,
Phone, at N5TW, I heard my own voice echoing the last seven syllables of
my CQ (``...Five Tango Whiskey, CQ Contest.'') The delay was approximately
one and a half to two seconds. There was no Doppler shift, and the signal
was not weak. I was on 15 meters.
- A signal that travels completely around the globe once does so in
under 1/7 of a second.
- Even a signal that travels as far as to the moon and back (EME) does
so in no less than 2.5 seconds, and with considerable Doppler shift.
